Dr. Rakesh (Tiwari) Kumar has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer – Renewables at DDEV Plastiks Industries Limited, marking a key leadership addition as the company strengthens its presence in clean energy and energy storage. In this role, he is responsible for leading the renewables business with end-to-end oversight of strategy, operations, and P&L, with a core mandate to establish and scale a 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturing facility in India.

At DDEV Plastiks Industries Limited, Dr. Kumar is leading the development of fully automated BESS production lines aligned with the “Made in India” initiative. His focus includes securing global certifications, implementing rigorous quality and testing frameworks, and ensuring high reliability for products serving utility-scale as well as commercial and industrial applications. His appointment is expected to accelerate the company’s entry and growth in the rapidly expanding energy storage market.

Dr. Kumar brings more than two decades of experience across renewable energy manufacturing, solar EPC, energy storage, and clean energy leadership. Prior to his appointment, he served as President – Solar Cell & Module at Kosol Energie and as Vice President – Sales & Marketing at Vishakha Renewables, where he drove market expansion, revenue growth, and strategic partnerships across India and international markets.

His earlier career includes senior leadership roles at Masdar Industrial Alternative Energy, SIPCHEM (Wahaj Solar), Goldi Solar, Aksh Optifibre, and Moser Baer Photo Voltaic, where he led large-scale manufacturing setup, process engineering, quality systems, and commercial execution. Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing a 1,000 MW automated solar module line and securing large-volume supply agreements in competitive global markets.
